In 1986 the NBA decided to give Minnesota a new team since there old team was given to L.A. in 1960 so Minnesota got a brand new team the Timberwolves. The Timberwolves were almost named the Polars but the city council voted Timberwolves. The T-wolves first coach was Bill Musselman he was a coach for Minnesota State University and the Cleveland Caveliers he was fired in 1991. Before the Timberwolves Minnesota was the Lakers I know what your thinking Lakers play for L.A. , but before that there were the Minneapolis Lakers from 1948 to 1960. They had many great players like George Mikan , Jim Pollard , and Slater Martin sadly the team was traded to L.A. in 1960.
Owner
The Minnesota Timberwolves owner is Glen Taylor , owner of Taylor Corp and former senator of Minnesota in 1990. Taylor went to school at Harvard one of the most prestigious schools in the world , he was born April, 20th, 1941. From 1980 - 1990 Taylor was the senator of Minnesota he provided leadership in areas in higher need of education and child care. The reason why Taylor is even the owner of the wolves is because in 1989 the Timberwolves were almost traded to Louisiana because of financial problems. Then billionaire Glen taylor bought The Timberwolves and stopped the trade.
